Sever: Employers want to keep Croatian salaries low

Croatian workers left to countries where they will be paid better

The chairman of Independent Croatian Unions Krešimir Sever warns that full liberalization in issuing work permits to foreign workers means only that the government doesn't have a plan or even a policy how to create higher wages for our workers and how to improve their positon. I've got nothing against foreigners and foreign workers, but the message here is that Croatian workers left to countries where they will be paid better because they can, and because the wages in Croatia are insufficient for a decent living for them or their children, and now we want to replace these workers with even less fortunate ones coming from poor countries so the employers could maintain low wages.
