No bank in Croatia will have a chance to be bailed out anymore
Croatia’s banking system becomes a part of the European system
One of the important changes brought by Croatia’s access to the Eurozone is that with the entry to the ECB’s single resolution mechanism, the State Agency for Deposit Insurance and Bank Resolution (DAB) and HNB will lose their autonomy on deciding on resolution of banks operating in Croatia. Such decisions will be taken over by the Single Resolution Board – SRB. This way, Croatia’s banking system becomes a part of the European system, which carries the risk that all the banks that used to be big in the Croatian market, including the two largest banks PBZ and Zaba, will become small at the European level.
