5 million tourists in August, up by 8%
The results are in line with expectations
By the end of August this year, Croatia was visited by 16.5m tourists with 90.1m bed nights, which is up by 5% and 1.7% respectively compared to the same period last year, setting a new record. The number of foreign guests was up by 5% to 14.7m, while the number of domestic guests rose by as much as 10% to 1.8m. In August alone, there were 5 million tourists in Croatia, up 8% year-on-year. They recorded 33.1m bed nights, beating the last year’s result by 3%. Tourism minister Gari Cappelli says the results are in line with the expectations and plans. According to the Tax Administration, since the beginning of the year the hospitality and catering industries recorded HRK 20.6bn in fiscalised receipts since the beginning of the year, which is up by 8% y/y.
